Fairmont in Lodi, CA. I understand you have questions regarding
requirements for tank slab, remote fill sump, and vent line transition sump. According to
California Code of Regulations, Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Section 2635 (7), all
underground storage tanks subject to floatation shall be anchored using methods specified
by the manufacturer or, if none exist, shall be anchored according to the best engineering
judgment. Please refer to the tank manufacturer's recommendations for appropriate
anchorage. According to LG 162-2 issued by the State Water Resources Control Board, the
remote fill and vent and vapor recovery lines will need to be double walled and there
shall be a transition sump put in where the lines exits above ground. Lines may not need
to be double walled if they exist in a double walled sump or under dispenser containment
where the containment interstitial space is monitored continuously via vacuum, pressure,
or interstitial liquid level measurement methods. Above ground piping for emergency
generator do not need to be double wall as long as they are visually inspected each time
the tank system is operated, but no less than monthly. LG 162-2 has been attached for
your reference. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.
Toua Yang
San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Office- 209-468-3459
