(GR) conducted a soil investigation
during underground storage tank (UST) and product piping replacement activities at the subject site.
The purpose was to assess if petroleum hydrocarbons have impacted the soil near the gasoline USTs
and beneath the product lines. GR's scope of work included: observing removal of the USTs; obtaining
permits and observing the destruction of one groundwater monitoring well, collecting soil and
groundwater samples from the UST pit, collecting soil samples from the former product piping
trenches, and from the soil stockpiles for disposal characterization; collecting groundwater samples for
characterization of discharged water from gasoline UST pit; submitting soil and groundwater samples
for analysis; coordinating disposal of soil stockpiles; and preparing a report of the field activities and
analytical results. Construction activities were performed by Paradiso Mechanical, Inc. (Paradiso) of
San Leandro, California.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The subject site is a service station located on the southwest corner of the intersection of West Hammer
Lane and Kelley Drive in Stockton, California(Figure 1). Aboveground facilities consist of a building,
canopy and two dispenser islands. Two new gasoline USTs share a common pit at the location of the
former USTs, east of the existing building. Six groundwater monitoring wells and one vapor
extraction well are present at and in the vicinity of the site. Pertinent site features are shown on Figure
2.
FIELD WORK
Sampling was performed by GR personnel in accordance with GR's Field Methods and Procedures
(attached). All soil and groundwater samples collected during this investigation were submitted under
chain-of-custody to Sequoia Analytical Laboratory located in Walnut Creek, California (ELAP #1271)
and Sacramento, California(ELAP #1624). Analytical methods and results are summarized in Tables
1 and 2. Soil sample locations are shown on Figure 2. Copies of the laboratory analytical reports and
chain-of-custody records are attached.
