G Y
Michael Hanford
Page 2
Please be informed that all tank violations must be corrected by May 10, 1995. If you have any
questions regarding the operation of tanks, please contact Letitia Briggs at (209) 468-3468.
County Administer's Office, Capital Improvement Projects
145 South Sutter. Stockton
Dick Callistro indicated that he received a draft work plan which he would review and finalized to be
forwarded to PHS/EHD within 4 weeks (April 7, 1995). He indicated that the work plan proposed to
install two replacement wells for MW2 and MW3 and destroy well MW2 and MW3. PHS/EHD staff,
Mary Meays, indicated that additional soil investigation would be required to determine the extent of
the residual soil contamination and hence whether or not additional remediation would be required.
Government Buildings Sites
130 North Hunter St., Stockton- Steve Sasson
Craig Ogata indicated that the tanks will be removed prior to further investigation. The removal is in
the procurement phase and will be out to bid.
222 East Weber Ave.. Stockton- Steve Sasson
Although detection limits at the time of the removal were higher than current recommended detection
limits, PHS-EHD will provide a clean tank closure status to this UST, based upon ND at 0.025 ppm
and the inspector's observations. A clean closure letter will be issued by PHS-EHD.
24 South Hunter St. Stockton- Michael Infuma
The petroleum underground storage tank (UST) is improperly abandoned in place in the sidewalk area
west of this county building. In an attempt to satisfactorily determine if a serious problem exists in the
subsurface area around the UST, PHS-EHD recommends that a confirming soil sampling event in the
area of the previous boring (13-5) be conducted. Soil samples and a groundwater grab sample should
be collected and analyzed for the same constituents that were detected in the previous investigation.
The results obtained during this investigation will help determine if the site may be certified for closure
or require further investigation and/or remediation. In addition to the recommended sample collection
event, a UST Closure Plan shall be submitted to Letitia Briggs at PHS-EHD as soon as the
determination has been made regarding the status of the soil and groundwater beneath the UST.
Please direct your work plan submittal and any questions you may have to Michael Infuma at (209)
468-3454.
