HARDWARE AND ANCHORING POINTS
Anchoring hardware and anchor points must be sized according
to Table 7 3 and manufactured to industry standards and
dimensions. The installing contractor is responsible for providing
:hardware and anchor points of sufficient strength. The particular
configuration of hardware will be determined by the owner or the
owner's representative. Locate the anchor points as shown in
Table 7-2 and Figure 7 2. Refer to dimension 'E". Align all anchor
points with the marked (><) location on the tanks, within a
tolerance of 1 inch. For specific information on hardware and its
use, consult the hardware manufacturer.
CAUTION:
Use only appropriate sized hardware with the strap eye.
Oversized hardware may damage the strap eye and result in
personal injury or property damage. See Figure 74 for strap
eye dimensions.
NOTE: Drop4orged type tumbudds may be used in place of ail or a portion of
mre rope.
NOTE: All exposed metal on the hosidown straps, tumoucides ardor threaded
roc must be coated or galvanized to prevent corrosion (Figure 7 -SA).
NOTE: when fastening owre rope. use a minimum of three Camps on eadt ioim
Use snacide-Stype or chair -type Camps as aqxow= (Figure 74A).
FIGURE 7-4A
i
WARNING-' --
Do not use air pressure to test tanks that contain flammable or
combustible liquids or vapors, and do not perform any post-
installation pressure test The fuel/afr mixture may explode and
cause death, severe personal injury or property damage. Tanks
that will be ballasted with a flammable product should be air
tested before ballasting.
/P WARNING:
If product is used as ballast, exercise special care in handling.
Safeguard against sparks, fire or product spills. improper
handling of product can cause a fire or explosion, damage.nd
result in death, severe personal injury or property
INTERMEDIATE DEFLECTION MEASUREMENT
After backfill is brought to the top of the tank, make an
intermediate measurement of vertical deflection according to the
instructions in Section 13.
TEST
After the tank has been measured and vertical deflection is
determined to be within the limits specified by Xerxes, the tank
must be pressure tested to ensure that no damage occurred
during installation. The procedure in Section 2 ?re -installation
Testing should be followed, soaping ail exposed areas of the tank
and ail fittings.
Because most of the tank exterior is no longer visible, the tank
must be tested by checking the gauge for one hour at the test
manifold for any drop in pressure. Carefuily relieve the pressure
in the tank and remove the Quick Disconnect assembly from dry
Double Wall tanks.
/P WARNING:
Do not use air pressure to test tanks that contain lfl nmm a or
combustible liquids or vapors and do not Perform
Post-
installation pressure test: The fie!lair mixture may explode and
cause death, severe personal injury, or property damage.
Tanks that will be ballasted with a flammable product should
be air tested before ballasting.
t WARNING:
if product is used as ballast, exercises ial care in handling.
Safeguard against sparks, fire or product spills improper
handling of product can cause a fire or explosion, and may
result in death, severe personal injury or property damage.
T
e tank may be ballasted after the backfill is even with the top of
the tank and post- nstal}ation testing, f appiicabie, has been
successfully completed. Cniy under wet -hole conditions, as
described in Section 6, should ballast be added before the backfill
is even with the too of the tank. When tilling the tank, make sure
the tank is oroperty vented. The vent :must be large enough to
allow the displaced air to escape.
