Box 6004 <br />San Ramon, California 94583 <br />Subject: Compliance Sampling Associated with Station Demolition at Chevron Service <br />Station # 9-3232, 8660 Lower Sacramento Road, Stockton, California. <br />Dear Mr. Hunter: <br />At the request of Chevron Products Company (Chevron) Gettler-Ryan Inc. (GR) conducted a soil <br />investigation following station demolition activities performed by Wendt & Sons Construction, Inc. <br />(Wendt) of Lodi, California. Field activities consisted of demolition of all aboveground facilities and <br />removing the underground storage tanks (USTs) and all associated piping. The scope of work <br />performed by GR included: observing removal of the gasoline and waste oil USTs, and product lines; <br />collecting soil and grab groundwater samples from the UST excavations, from beneath former product <br />piping and dispensers, and from the soil stockpiles; submitting soil samples for analysis; evaluating soil <br />disposal options and coordinating disposal; and preparing a report documenting the work. The work <br />was performed to assess whether petroleum hydrocarbons have impacted the soil beneath the USTs <br />and product lines. <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />The subject site is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Sacramento Road and Ponce <br />De Leon Avenue in Stockton, California (Figure 1). Former service station facilities consisted of a <br />station building, two dispenser islands, three gasoline USTs, and one waste oil UST. All subsurface <br />and aboveground facilities have been demolished and removed from the site. Three groundwater <br />monitoring wells have been installed at the site. Pertinent site features are shown on Figure 2. The <br />subject site is currently under new construction. <br />FIELD WORK <br />Sampling work associated with the site demolition activities was conducted by GR in accordance with <br />the GR Field Methods and Procedures (attached) and GR's Contingency Work Plan dated January 21, <br />1999. All soil and water samples collected during this investigation were delivered under chain -of - <br />custody to Sequoia Analytical Laboratory in Walnut Creek (ELAP #1271), California. Analytical <br />methods and results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2. Copies of the laboratory analytical reports and <br />chain -of -custody records are attached. Mr. Michael P. Kith and Mr. Harlin Knoll of the San Joaquin <br />County Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) were present at the site during UST and product <br />piping removal and soil sampling activities.
