PHS/EHD has completed review of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) prepared by Touchstone Development,
consultants for Chevron. The CAP will be implemented if soil contamination is found during upcoming UST
removal and building demolition.
Soil and groundwater investigation results have also been reviewed by this office. Four monitoring wells have been
installed and sampled at this site. The monitoring wells have only been sampled once to date and confirmation
samples must be collected and analyzed before site UST removal and site demolition begin.
Monitoring well #3 is in close proximity to the existing waste oil UST and building. Monitoring well #2 is in close
proximity to the 3 product UST. As you have seen at other sites, monitoring wells can be damaged and even lost
when removal and demolition activities begin.
After groundwater results have been received and reviewed by PHD/EHD, this office will determine the need to
maintain their locations. No field activities will be scheduled by this office until the wells are properly protected
from damage or the wells have been destroyed under permit and inspection.
If you have any further questions regarding this letter or scheduling of inspections, contact Harlin Knoll at (209)
468-3442.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior RENS Diane M.
