Refer to the "S RCB LUFT Field Manual", App D (B), Table 3-5 on page A20 for minimum detection
limits for motor vehicle fuel (gasoline and diesel). Refer to "Tri -Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Initial Evaluation and
Investigation of UST's" for the waste and motor oil minimum detection limits. Detection Limits that remain elow the MCL, STLC or
Allowable Limit of the contaminant in question will be accepted, however laboratory shall utilize the nwst conservative method.
TPH-G Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon, Gasoline, GC/FID (5030) 8015 mod or GC/MS 8260
TPH-D Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon, Diesel, GC/F'1D (3550), 8015 mod or GC/MS 8260
M & E enzene, Toluene, Xylene & Ethyl Benzene, GC/PID 8020 or GUMS 8260
CLHC Chlorinated Hydrocarbon, GC/HSD 8010,GCIMS 8240 or 8260
TOTAL LEAD Total lead, AA 7420, AA 7421 or ICP -AES 6010
OXYGENATES MTBE, ETRE, TAME, DIPS, & TBA GUMS 8260 (For MMIgmLaaly you may use 8020)
METALS ICAP or AA Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry 6010 or Atomic Absorption Spectrometry 7000. Fused capillary columns are preferred to packed columns; a
packed coluttm may be used as a "first cut" with "dirty"sampics or once the hydrocarbons have been characterized and proper QA/QC is followed. for
drinking water sources, EPA recommends that the 500 series for volatile organic should be used in preference to the 600 series because the detection
limits ate lower and the QA/QC is better. Samples exhibiting any level orheavy metal contamination may require further analysis.
