VII. SITE STANDARD OPERATION PROCEDURES <br />A) PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) <br />i) The contractor and consultant personnel will follow the standard U.S. <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) personal protective equipment <br />convention for all hazardous waste field work described as follows: <br />(1) LEVEL A PPE <br />(a) Full Encapsulation chemical protective suite, positive pressure <br />demand self -contaminated breathing apparatus, disposable <br />Tyvek coveralls as the undergarment. <br />(2) LEVEL B PPE <br />(a) Positive Pressure -demand self-contained breathing apparatus or <br />supplied -air respirator in positive pressure mode, 5 minute <br />escape bottle worn at hip, chemical protective suit (permeable <br />Tyvek or impermeable coated Tyvek or Saranex coveralls for <br />splash hazards), chemical protective gloves, inner surgical <br />gloves, chemical protective boots with steel toe and steel shank, <br />hard hat. <br />(3) LEVEL C PPE <br />(a) Full face or half face air purifying respirator, chemical protective <br />suit (permeable or impermeable coated Tyvek or Saranex <br />coveralls for splash hazard), chemical protective gloves, inner <br />surgical gloves, chemical protective boots with steel toe and <br />steel shank, hard hat, safety glasses if half respirator is worn. <br />(4) LEVEL D PPE <br />(a) Tyvek coveralls, hard hat, steel toed, steel shank work boots, <br />safety glasses, work gloves. <br />ii) PPE required for each job task depends on the chemical and physical <br />hazards expected of that task, as described above.
