Box 1025
West Sacramento, California 95691
Subject:
Underground Storage Tank Removal Report
Orlando's
5611 East Waterloo Road, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Walton:
At the request of Walton Engineering, Inc., of West Sacramento, California, a registered geologist'
from Grayland Environmental (Grayland) arrived at the property (site) located at 5611 East
Waterloo Road in Stockton, California, on November 19, 1996, to assist with the removal of three
underground storage tanks (Figure 1). Grayland collected individual soil samples for laboratory
testing from beneath the former underground fuel storage tanks and fuel dispensers. Because the
former fuel dispensers were located at the edge of the open tank excavation, it was not necessary to
collect soil samples from beneath product delivery pipelines. In addition, soil sample composites
were collected from the soil stockpile generated during the tank removal work.
The site was occupied by Orlando's convenience store, which stored diesel fuel and two grades of
unleaded gasoline in underground storage tanks for retail sale. The three underground storage tanks
had capacities of approximately 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 gallons each and were situated side by
side near the center of the property (Figure 2). Fill ports were located at the southern ends of the
underground storage tanks; former fuel dispensers were located immediately east of the three
underground storage tanks. Former underground product delivery pipelines were located within the
open tank excavation. The single-wall, carbon steel underground storage tanks had overfill
protection, but were not wrapped.
The surface of the site, surrounding the area of the former underground storage tanks, was covered
predominantly with asphaltic -concrete and concrete. The remaining part of the site to the north of
the storage tank area had bare soil exposed at the surface. The approximate 4,000 square -foot
building, occupied by the convenience store, was situated near the southwest corner of the site
(Figure 2).
2731 Quail Street Davis, California 95616 (916) 756-1441
Grayland 022-130.trr i December 20, 1996
