This report is prepared by American Environmental Management Corporation (AEMC)
for Pacific Bell (Pac Bell) to present the findings of an underground storage tank (UST)
® removal project at 124 West Elm Street, Lodi, California (Figure 1). Presented in this
report are data pertaining to the excavation of two diesel fuel USTs with 550 -gallon and
2,000 -gallon capacities, the sampling and chemical testing of the soil adjacent to them, and
the backfill and compaction of soil into the excavations.
® The Pac Bell facility (site) is currently used as a telephone switching station. The diesel
fuel USTs described above were located at the eastern side of the building in the rear
parking lot area. A site detail map presents the tank locations in Figures 2 and 3.
® The 550 -gallon tank was constructed of single -walled steel and was buried at the base of a
20 -foot deep reinforced concrete vault. It was installed in the early 1950s by Pacific Bell
and was used to power an emergency electrical generator.
The 2,000 -gallon tank was constructed of single -walled steel and was buried approximately
10 feet deep in a location just to the northwest of the 550 -gallon tank. It was installed in
the 1970s to supply the backup electrical generators onsite and replaced the 550 -gallon
tank. The smaller tank was emptied and taken out of service at that time.
El
U
® riper-oe(ao-a) Page 1
AMERICAN
