Jim Craig and Will McVicker of our firm
performed tests at the subject project from April 25 to May 2,
1991. Seventeen tests were taken by the nuclear probe test method
at random locations on tank pit backfill. The depth of backfill
was approximately 12 feet. A sample of the material tested was
returned to the laboratory for determination of the maximum
density -optimum moisture content. The results of the attached
field tests were given to Mr. Elwood Mare on the testing dates.
The laboratory curves used to evaluate the relative degree of
compaction are as follows:
ASTM D-1557, METHOD "A"
Material Description
and Source
Tan silty sand with
aggregate, native
Tan silty sand, import
Maximum Optimum Curve
Dry Density Moisture Content Nlu-mber
127.0 pcf 11.0% 1
116.8 pcf 11.3% 2*
* previously reported, File No. 20-3207-07
Copyright 1991 Kleinfelder, Inc.
KLEINFELDER 2825 East myrtle Street, Stockton, CA 95205 1,209) 948-1343 RECEIVED BY MAY 0
E#x`C; v
