Safety Awareness & Equipment
• Employee Safety
— Constant Vigilance
— Customer / User
Mentality
— Personal Protective
Equipment
Barricades / Cones
• Safety Vests
• Safety Glasses
• Nitrile Gloves
(02005, Tait & Associates, Inc.
Safety awareness will require constant vigilance on your part.. UST Facilities,
such as service stations, present many unique risk factors. Your customers,
or UST users, may not have the same "safety first" mentality as you. In most
cases, customers will treat a service station with a "pit stop" mentality..... Get
in, get gas, and get out fast. You must protect yourself against this mindset by
always maintaining your situational awareness. Your safety is quite often not
taken into consideration by your customers.
When performing your assigned duties, such as daily UST system checks,
ensure you have the appropriate personal protective equipment. Always wear
a safety vest to make yourself more visible to others. If you are performing a
task, such as spill bucket cleanout, make sure you delineate the area with
cones or barricades. Additionally, if there is a danger of contact with a
hazardous substance, ensure you have the proper eye and hand protection.
1i
