The proposed plan is to Petro-Tite test the tanks, then to
remove a portion of the concrete floor, hand -excavate, hand
drill into the tank and backfill to a depth of one (1) foot
minimum below the tank bottom. Take soil test and analysis
for total petroleum hydrocarbons, Benzene, Toluene and
Xylene. Soil samples will be taken by James Elder, L.B.M.E.
Corp. At least_7950, sampl& from each tank will be obtained.
hole.
If the tankAis clean, the tank would be emptied, washed and
backfilled with a cement/sand grout with 5% bentonite. The
cement/sand ratio, would be equal to a two -sack per cubic yard
mix.
Prior to filling with grout, the tanks will be vapor freed
using dry ice. Any sludge and wash water will be barreled and
removed by an authorized waste hauler.
If the hole is contaminated a clean-up plan will be
developed.
The existing piping above the floor to the tanks would be
removed and the piping under the floor would be filled with
grout.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Sincerely,
James Elder, P.E.
Lic.
