UL Listed Centron® Fiberglass / Epoxy
Pipe and Fittings
❑ Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. and Under-
writers Laboratories of Canada have re -
Gently completed the materials properties test
and the physical test portion of their investiga-
tion under UL subject 971 and ULC C107C-
M1984 of Centron fiberglass / epoxy tubular
products in size 2" and found it to comply with
all applicable requirements for use with petro-
leum products, alcohol, and alcohol -gasoline
blends. UL file MH15635 and ULC file CMH
1301.
❑ Centron@ fiberglass / epoxy tubular products
have the same excellent corrosion and physical
properties as the Centron@ Oil Field products.
The pipe, sleeve couplings, adapters, and reducer
bushings are manufactured using the same
filament winding process that has produced field
proven tubular products for the past fifteen
years. These products have been used by major
and independent oil companies in service condi-
tions up to 3,500 psi.
❑ Easy Installation - Centron@ fiberglass / epoxy
tubular products are lightweight, easy to handle
and install, and well suited for installation in
underground fuel service piping systems and
transmission lines. The bell and spigot piping
systems are installed using Centron@ CAS -1 fuel
and alcohol resistant adhesive specifically de-
signed for this application. This adhesive was de-
veloped for rapid installation with short cure
time and maximum durability. Assembly of Cen-
tron@ piping systems requires no special field
2
preparation except for tapering of field cut joints
which is fully outlined in our installation instruc-
tions. A full range of fittings and adapters are
available.
❑ Pipe Products - Centron@ fiberglass / epoxy
pipe products are filament wound on polished
steel mandrels. The angle of the continuous
fiberglass roving is precisely controlled to give
the tubular products maximum performance
capabilities. The epoxy resin matrix used in
Centron@ fiberglass / epoxy products determines
the mechanical, chemical, and thermal proper-
ties of the products. The composite has a glass -
to -resin ratio of 75:25 by weight and the glass/
resin system is matched for optimum physical
and chemical resistance. The chemistry of the
epoxy resin mix is strictly controlled and the
curing cycle carefully monitored to ensure
optimum chemical and physical properties of the
finished product.
❑ Fittings - Centron@ epoxy fittings are the first
to be manufactured using the state-of-the-art
Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) technology. This
process permits the use of long strand oriented
reinforcement (as opposed to random oriented
short strand reinforcement) and results in
increased strength -to -weight ratios. Additionally,
the proprietary RTM technique used to manufac-
ture Centron@ RTM fittings produces parts with
very low void content, excellent fiber wet out,
and a resin rich inner surface for exceptional
corrosion resistance.
•0
• •
00
Piping
30'(9144) Nominal
15'(4572) Nominal (1)
B
1-3/40
Taper
1-3/40
Taper (1) Some 15 foot lengths may have bonded coupling on bell end.
Physical Description and Performance Values
Pipe Size
Designation
Nominal I.D.
Nominal
Nominal O.D.
Internal
Ultimate
Weight
Minimum
"B"
Inch (mm)
ASTM D-1599
Inch (mm)
Wall
Inch (mm)
Pressure
External
Lbs/ft
Bend
Bell
ASTM D-792
Flow Coefficient, C
150
thickness
Rating (150°)
Collapse
(Kg/M)
Radius
O.D.
Inch (mm)
PSI (MPa)
Pressure
Ft (M)
Inch (mm)
PSI (MPa)
2 (50)
CBS 300A
2.23 (56.6)
.065(l.65)
2.36 (59.9)
300 (2.07)
155(l.07)
.38 (.57)
75 (23)
2.5(64)
*3 (76)
CBS 225A
3.35 (85.1)
.070J.78)
3.49 (88.6)
225(l.55)
85(.59)
.60 (.89)
90 (27)
3.7(94)
*4 (102)
CBS 175A
4.33 (110)
.075(l.91)
4.48 (113.8)
175(l.21)
48 (.33)
.83 (1.24)
140 (43)
4.7(120)
Physical and Mechanical Properties
Property
Value
Test Method
Axial Tensile Strength
12,000 PSI
ASTM D-2105
Axial Tensile Modulus
6
1.8 x 10 PSI
ASTM D-2105
Hoop Tensile Strength @ Weep
44,000 PSI
ASTM D-1599
Long Term Hydrostatic Strength
Cyclic (1.5 x 108cycles) @180° F
Static (100,000 hrs) @75°F
8,106 PSI
28,114 PSI
ASTM D-2992 Proc.
