Sampling equipment <br />will be decontaminated before each sample is taken and <br />drilling equipment will be decontaminated before each <br />boring is commenced. <br />Drilling and sampling equipment will be steam -cleaned <br />before being brought onsite. split -spoon sampling <br />equipment will be steam -cleaned before each use. Augers <br />will be steam -cleaned between borings. <br />The Project Geologist will oversee all operations and <br />log all borings in consultation with drillers. Further, <br />he or she will assure that proper protocol is used at <br />all times in collecting and handling samples. <br />10.0 TRAINING <br />The SSO will conduct a pre -job training session to <br />discuss all points of the SSP. The SSO will assure that <br />everyone fully understands site hazards before work <br />begins. All onsite personnel shall be trained in: <br />1. Anticipated hazards <br />2. Safety practices to be followed <br />3. Personal protective equipment to be worn <br />4. Emergency procedures and location of posted phone <br />numbers <br />All personnel onsite must initially complete a 40 -hour <br />hazardous materials training course as required by Code <br />of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120. Thereafter, all <br />onsite personnel are required to annually complete an <br />8 -hour hazardous materials refresher course. <br />When respiratory protection is required, use of <br />respirators must be in accordance with the written <br />respiratory protection program. All personnel must be <br />properly trained and fit -tested for the respirator worn. <br />5092!= <br />According to CFR 29, 1910.120, Paragraph (f), employees <br />who wear respirators 30 days or more during one year or <br />who have been exposed to hazardous substances or health <br />hazards above established PELs are required to be <br />medically monitored. While airborne contamination <br />levels are anticipated to below permissible PELs, <br />respirators fitted with organic vapor cartridges should <br />be worn whenever the smell of gasoline is present. <br />
