(GR) has prepared this letter on the behalf of ConocoFhillips (76) to
inform your office of the proposed scope of work for the above referenced site.
Gettler-Ryan Inc. proposes to perform a retrofit/repair to the existing waste oil
underground storage tank (UST) by disconnecting the former remote piping (previously
abandoned in place.) The remote fill penetration into the UST will then be capped at the
tank top. Following repair activities, Tankology Inc. will perform a new tank integrity
test to verify that the UST containment remaim intact.
Detailed scope of work is as follows:
• Remote fill piping will be disconnected from the UST within the containment
sump. In the event that piping cannot be disconnected at a threaded fitting, the
pipe will be cold cut.
• Remote fill piping penetration at the UST and sump wall will be capped.
The remote fill at this location was abandoned and removed under the authorization of the
San Joaquin Health Department in 1998. However, a portion of the piping was allowed
to remain in place and capped outside of the UST containmeut sump. Annual tank
integrity testing has revealed a minor leak in the tank system associated with the remnant
of the remote fill piping. Following completion of the proposed scope of work the UST
will be retested by an approved third party testing company.
P. 02
1364 North McDowell Blvd., Suite B2 9 Petaluma, California 04954-1116 a (707) 789-3255
