Monitoring Procedures • A sump sensor(Model#PA02592000000)is a liquid probe located in a
(continued) piping-containment sump above the tank. If a leak occurs in the
primary piping wall, the product will drain into the secondary
piping. From the secondary piping, the product will drain into the
piping-containment sump, activating the alarm.
The system continuously monitors idle periods in the tank. During each idle
period, data are collected and combined with other idle periods to form a
highly accurate database. A new leak test is performed every time new data
from an idle period is added and test results can be accessed at any time with
the press of a button.
In the event of an alarm, the control panel will respond with a flashing red
light and an audible horn. The audible alarm can be manually disabled by
using the Alarm Acknowledgment Switch located on the control panel. The
alarm light will continue to flash until the problem has been corrected.
Equipment Maintenance
Once each year, the Operator must schedule a test of the following equipment
and arrange for repair,if needed:
• Interstitial space sensor
• Magnetostrictive probe
• Piping sump sensor
The test will be performed by an authorized representative of Gilbarco, or a
person trained for this task by an authorized representative of Gilbarco.
All equipment tests and repairs must be recorded on the Operator's Monitoring
Report (see Appendix A).
Operational Training—Tank System and Monitoring Equipment
The Operator must read the following instruction manual:
• Gilbarco System Operational Instruction Manual for the
Environmental Management Console(EMC).
The Operator must also read this monitoring plan and must document
that the required reading has been completed. A copy of a training
documentation sheet is available in Appendix B. Copies of the
instruction manuals and the monitoring plan must be available at
Building 879.
Manufacturer's representatives from Gilbarco,Inc.,or a person knowledgeable
about the system, must also review the tank system operation with the
Operator, and the review must be recorded on a training documentation sheet.
Training documentation will be attached to the Operator's Monitoring Record
when it is completed.
Monitoring and Response Program for 879-DlU1 and 879-G3U1 6 of 14
