Box 2009
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Submittal of Closure Report for Underground Storage
Tank 830-D1U1.
Dear Mr. Snavely:
Enclosed you will find a closure report for the underground storage tank (UST)
830-D1 U1 at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Site 300, south of
Tracy, California.
The analytical results of the soil sample collected beneath UST 830-D1 U1 were
evaluated by LLNL EPD Tank Representative, Mr. Rick Henry, and compared to
the Practical Quantitation Reporting Limits in the Regional Water Quality Control
Board's Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation
and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites (TRBSR), dated August 10, 1990.
Based upon the analytical laboratory results of the soil sample collected from
the tank excavation, it was determined that soil beneath the 830-D1 U1 tank
system showed levels of TPH as Diesel and BTEX, that exceed the Practical
Quantitation Reporting Limits in the TRBSR. However, it was determined by Bill
Snavely in a telephone conversation with Rick Henry on October 20, 1993, that
the soil beneath the former UST 830-D1 U1 could be left in place, and the
excavation could be backfilled. The LLNL requests that the San Joaquin Public
Health Services-Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) grant a conditional
case closure for the 830-D1 U1 tank system. A State Water Resources Control
Board UST Permit Application Form B shall be submitted to the PHS-EHD
within 30 days of the submittal of this closure report.
If you have any questions, please call Rick Henry, Tank Assessments and
Guidance Group Analyst, at (510) 423-3641.
Sincerely,
/f l
C.
