Mr. Bill <br /> Snavely San Joaquin County Public Health Services stated a belief that the <br /> evidence of diesel fuel in the soil below the tank was associated with the <br /> previously detected diesel fuel in groundwater in the nearby monitoring well <br /> Installed in the shallow perched aquifer in the Building 834 area As a result <br /> Mr. Snavely informed us that this site project was to be transferred to Ms Diane <br /> Hinson, Supervising Environmental Health Specialist in the Site Mitigation and <br /> Local Oversight Program, San Ioaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Interactions with Diane Hinson and completion of the project are described in <br /> the CORRECTIVE ACTION REPORT beginning on page 7 <br /> • Because the tank system has consistently tested leak tight the suspected <br /> cause of the contamination is historic tank overfilling <br /> • Based on the visual evidence and smell of diesel fuel in the excavation and <br /> excavated materials at the Building 834 tank closure site an Underground <br /> Storage Tank Unauthorized (Leak)/Contamination Site Report for tank system <br /> 834-D1U1 was completed and submitted to Doug Wilson San Joaquin County <br /> Public Health Services, on August 3, 1994. <br /> • The tank closure activities were completed according to the 834-DIU1 <br /> Closure Plan and the requirements of Bill Snavely. The subsequent corrective <br /> action activities were completed in accordance with the agreement with Diane <br /> Hinson of the Site Mitigation / Local Oversight Program. The12roject has been <br /> completed. LLNL does not plan further closure or remedial activities at the <br /> tank closure site. <br /> • The stockpile soil from the UST 834-DlUl excavation has not been <br /> remediated nor has a method of proper disposal been determined Ship"ing <br /> documents and/or manifests will be forwarded to your office when they <br /> become available. <br /> [ X ] Photographs of tank closure activities are enclosed as Appendix D. <br /> [N/A] A copy of the State Water Resources Control Board UST Permit <br /> Application Form B shall be submitted to your office within 30 days of the <br /> submittal of this report. <br /> [N/A] A copy of the State Water Resources Control Board UST Permit <br /> Application Form B was submitted to your office with the UST Closure Plan. <br /> • <br /> The Form B was completed by Mr. Snavely. <br />
