If winds are blo at 5 <br />miles per hour (mph) or greater and/or the weatber is damp or wet, cold stress is even more of a <br />potemial hazard, Precautions that will be taken to prevent cold vtress include wearing cold <br />protective clothing appmprWe fDr the level of cold mid physical activity, changing ander clothing <br />if it becotm wet, and establishing a work/warming reonen. Cold protective clothing wW include <br />layermg of garment and use of gloves and hat. Ignoring the signs and <br />symptoms of clod stress can be Ke threatening. Prevention is the key. As a preventative nmsure, <br />body core temperature should not drop below 96.8 degrees F. Pain in the extvwkies is the first <br />early warning of cold stress.
