When temperature exceeds seventy degrees F, take frequent breaks. Have cool (Heat)
water available and check pulse rate for thirty seconds or as early as possible in the rest
period. If the pulse rate exceeds one hundred and ten beats per minute at the beginning of
the rest period, shorten the work cycle by one-third.
Wind resistant fabric should be worn if temperature is below zero degrees to thirty degrees (Cold)
below zero, total work time is hours. alternate_hours in and_hours out of low-
temperature area. Below thirty degrees below zero, consult industrial hygienist. Drink warm
fluids.
E. Acoustical Hazards
✓ Use earplugs or earmuffs when noise level prevents conversation in a normal voice at a distance
of three feet from the work area.
F. 02 Deficiency- Confined Space Hazards
Confined spaces include trenches, pits, sumps, elevator shafts, tunnels, or any other area
where circulation of fresh air is restricted or ability to readily escape from the area is
restricted. Consult regulatory agencies form the city and count for a health and Safety Policy
prior to entering confined spaces.
W Obtain permit for confined space entry.
Monitor 02 and organic vapors before entering. If values are exceeded, do not enter without
appropriate Class Level gear.
* 02 less than nineteen and 1/2 (19.5) percent or greater than twenty-five (25)percent.
* concentrations of specific contaminants exceeding action level if all air contaminants are
identified.
* Total hydrocarbons greater than parts per million aboveground, if all air
contaminants have not been identified.
Monitor 02 and organic vapors continuously while inside the confined space.
If value of Item 1 are exceeded, evacuate immediately. Record instrument readings.
Use portable fans or blowers to introduce fresh air to confined spaces whenever use of
respirator is required.
Work involving the use of flame, aic, spark, or other source if ignition is prohibited within a
confined space.
G.
