13. PREVENTION: Barriers a0stalled to prevent vehicle collision witlemps. A Vapor Recovery System is <br /> used when filling underground tanks. No sales to unauthorized containers. No Smoking signs posted, along <br /> with self-serve instructions posted at dispensers. A tank monitoring program is also implemented. <br /> 14. MITIGATION: Stop the source of the release as necessary. Operator should attempt to isolate leak <br /> location by inspection. If it is gasoline, then stop the source of the release by activating the emergency <br /> pump shutoff switch. Evacuate of all non-essential personnel from area. Extinguish and remove all ignition <br /> sources. Use fire extinguisher if necessary. While using proper personal protective equipment, contain and <br /> absorb spill with inert absorbent. Avoid breathing vapors by approaching upwind. Chevron will coordinate <br /> whatever corrective actions need to be taken beyond the Operator's capabilities. Chevron will file <br /> whatever reports need to be filed with local and state agencies, and send a copy to the station for the <br /> Operator's files. <br /> 15. ABATEMENT: Keep nonessential personnel away from the area. Place contaminated absorbent pads in <br /> spill pad drum. Notify Chevron Maintenance Dispatch for coordination with Hazardous Materials Contractor <br /> to remove contaminated absorbent material if required. Materials involved in cleanup will be disposed of in <br /> accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations. Established Company investigation <br /> procedures will be utilized to determine future preventive measures. <br /> 16. EARTHQUAKES: Determine if storage and delivery system is secure. This shall be accomplished via the <br /> leak detection system as appropriate. If leak detection system indicates that a failure has occurred, make <br /> proper notifications as outlined in this plan. Shutdown the system until proper repair and cleanup has been <br /> accomplished. <br /> 17. HAZARDOUS WASTE CONTINGENCY: SPECIAL NOTE: This site will not generate hazardous waste <br /> except in the event of an unauthorized release. Small spills shall be taken up with absorbent pads by <br /> appropriately trained employees and stored in spill pad drum on site for pickup. Contaminated soil or other <br /> materials from a large and/or underground release shall be disposed through Chevron Maintenance <br /> Dispatch. <br /> 18. UNAUTHORIZED RELEASE RESPONSE PLAN: Notify Chevron Maintenance if leak detection <br /> system is in alarm. If there is an unauthorized release has occurred. The Chevron Environmental Compliance <br /> Staff will make proper notifications to regulatory agencies. Response plan will be in accordance to UST <br /> Tank Monitoring Plan at station. <br /> EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES FOR <br /> CARBON DIOXIDE (if applicable) <br /> FIRE OR EXPLOSION DATA <br /> Carbon dioxide is not flammable. CAUTION: Compressed Gas Cylinder may explode in heat of fire. <br /> HEALTH HAZARD CAUTION: <br /> 1. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. <br /> 2. Contact with liquid carbon dioxide may cause frostbite <br /> ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES <br /> 1. Evacuate all personnel from affected areas. Use appropriate protective equipment. <br /> STORAGE <br /> 1. Protect tank/ cylinders from physical damage <br /> 2. Store in cool, dry, well ventilated area away from heavily trafficked areas and emergency exits. <br /> 3. Do not allow temperatures to exceed 125 degrees where tank/cylinders are stored. <br /> 4. Tank/cylinders should be stored upright and firmly secured to prevent falling or being knocked over <br /> 5. Full or empty cylinders should be segregated. <br /> 6. Use a "first in first out" inventory system to prevent full cylinders being stored for excessive periods of <br /> time. <br /> THESE EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES MUST BE FILLED OUT AND POSTED IN THE <br /> EMERGENCY RESPONSE BINDER WITH THE SITE PLAN AT THE CASHIER PHONE <br /> UPCF Rev.(12/2007) <br />
