Introduction
Containment _yem
Installation Instruct!r,
Publication No: PJP-251
Effective Date: 8-15-88
Supersedes: PJP-250
The Pipe Jacket"Containment System is a secondary containment system for steel or fiberglass primary piping. The
system has been designed to be easy and fast to install with only a minimal amount of tools. Once installed, it performs
as an air -fight guttering'system around the primary piping system, providing containment from under the dispensers, to
the submersible pump, including all swing joints and flex connectors. Any leak in the primary pipe will flow from the high
end of the system to a collection sump located at the low end of the system. The Pipe Jacket"' is connected together
by using a combination of Stainless steel clamps and Buna-N Compression Seals. All Secondary piping and fitting
connections require the use of a rachet wrench or power nut driver. After assembly is complete the Pipe Jacket"'
Containment System can be integrity tested and fitted with a continuous monitoring system. The following instructions
are required for proper installation.
Pre -Installation
When designing the primary piping s
added size of the larger containment
job site which will prevent them from
Stage One Assembly
n, allow adequate trench sizing and primary pipe spacing to accomodate the
and fittings. All Pipe JacketT" components should be stored in an area of the
"damaged or lost.
Dry -Fit Primary Piping
After all Sump/Risers have been installed, (see Sumpfi ' er Installation Instructions) cutting and sizing of the primary
ding may begin beyond the Sump/Risers. Cut and dry'lsii the entire primary piping line before cutting and installing
any Pipe Jacket"' components. It is important to follow there instructions closely so that all components of the Pipe
Jacket'" are in place before final assembly of the primary piping
Installing Grommets
When exiting the Sump/Riser with contained or non -contained piping
install the appropriate size Grommet to seal the exit. Refer to the ;-
Sump/Riser Installation Instructions for further information.
Note: When exiting the Sump/Riser with 3" primary pipe it is required that J: c,
the Sump Adapter component be installed over the primary, just outside
the Sump/Riser. The Sump Adapter will accommodate the 4" Grommet and
the Telescoping Flex Pipe B.
Installing Test Reducers
After assembly of the swing joint or flex connector at the submersible pump
install the Test Reducer to the primary pipe inside the Sump/Riser. At a later
stage of assembly it willjP a clamped to the Telescoping Straight Pipe for
sealing -off and air pressure testing of the Pipe Jacket"' containment
rstem.
