If in doubt,
call the Owens-Corning Installation Manager in Toledo at
(419)-248-7317.
DO NOT
• Approach endcaps or manways while tanks are under
pressure. This could result in personal injury.
• Lift or hoist a tank under pressure. This could result in
personal injury.
• Use a vacuum gauge.
Testing Double -Wall Tanks with Dry
Annular Space
This section is for tanks which do not have monitoring tracer
fluid installed. If tank arrives at site with monitoring fluid
installed, use instructions for Double -Wall Tanks with
Annular Space Filled on page 4.
For All Tests:
DO
• Install air gauge at the fitting where the air pressure
hose is connected to the tank.
• Install a second gauge at the other monitoring fitting.
• Use an air gauge with 1/4 or 1/2 lb. increments.
DO NOT
• Lift or hoist a tank under pressure ( to avoid potential
injury).
Outer Wall Test
Step #1
• Close manifold valve between primary tank and annular
space.
• Pressurize primary tank to 5 psi maximum.
• Use a pressure relief valve.
Do not connect the air supply directly to the monitoring
fitting or tank damage will result.
Continued on next page.
i/4
1
3/4
1/2
-1/4
Approved Gravel
Must consist of clean, natural-
ly -rounded aggregate with a
mix of particle sizes not less
than 1/8" or more than 3/4".
Approved Crushed Stone
or Crushed Gravel
Must be washed with angular
particle size not less than
1/8" or more than 1/2".
No more than 3 % may pass No more than 3 % may
the #8 sieve. pass the #8 sieve.
Dry gravel density must be a Dry gravel density must be
minimum of 95 pounds per a minimum of 95 pounds
cubic foot. per cubic foot.
A3.
