Optional Top Cable Clamp Method • May be used to secure anchor straps at the top of tank. • Clamp cable to strap using at least 3 cable clamps. • Thread cable around deadman (or through anchor points). • Bring cable to top of tank. • Position wire rope in cable guides. • Repeat procedure on other end of strap. • Clamp cables together at top of tank. • Use a come -along to snug wire rope. • Secure cables with at least 3 cable clamps. Guides Hold Cables rNWFEWEN A8. Installation Procedure Before you begin: • It's important you review all instructions to make sure that the proper procedures and materials have been complied with. This includes: ❑ Bed and Backfill ❑ Pre -Installation Testing ❑ Hole Size/Burial Depth ❑ Anchoring Tank Installation - Warnings and Cautions AWARNING • Do not enter the tank excavation unless necessary! Follow OSHA guidelines for tank excavations. • Collapsing excavation walls can cause injury or death! DO LJ Backfill the tank as soon as possible to tank top. ❑ Ballast tank with water or product after backfill is even with tank top. DO NOT • Place water or product in tank until backfill is even with tank top! Installation Procedure — Dry Hole (OSHA - Sloped Excavation Walls) Bed DO • Provide a minimum of 12" bedding using approved backfill material (see section A2). • Set tanks directly on backfill bed. DO NOT • Place tanks directly on concrete pad, timbers, cradles or beams. Backfilling (All tank models) - Proper backfilling is important to provide the necessary support for the tank. It is critical to: • Use approved backfill material. • Place the first 12" lift evenly around tank. • Use a long handled probe to push backfill completely. ❑ Beneath tank bottom ❑ Between all ribs ❑ At 3 to 5 points under end caps • Place another 12" of backfill evenly around tank. • Repeat the probing of backfill to insure proper support. Long Handled Probe First 12" Lift of Backfill 7 5 * It's critical that this area offer full support under tank and end caps. • After completion of second lift, backfill can be brought to top of tank without additional handwork (compaction may be required for slab support). To minimize the chance of tank buoyancy, backfill the tank as soon as possible to tank top and then ballast (fill tank) with water or product.
