Secondary Piping Connection
Two most commonly used methods to secondarily contain
piping:
• Double-wall fiberglass pipe.
• HDPE secondary containment system.
Note: Fiberglass pipe manufactured by Smith Fiberglass and
Ameron are dimensionally compatible with the OCF
supplied FRP Coupling.
Typical methods to attach secondary piping are shown in
the following drawings:
Field Installed FRP Coupling Used With Fiberglass Double -Wall Pipe
Turbine Enclosure Interior
Female Section
Male Section
Fiberglas /
Secondary Pipe
Fiberglas
Primary Pipe
O Sand inner surface of coupling and
Adhesive Fill 1
outer surface of Fiberglas pipe.
Apply adhesive to inside surface of
FRP coupling and outside surface of
FRP pipe just before final assembly.
Field Installed FRP Coupling Used With HDPE Secondary
Containment System
Turbine Enclosure Interior
Female Section
Fiberglas Pipe Stub ?
Male Section
Fiberglas
Primary Pipe
D Sand inner surface of 3"
FRP coupling and outer
HDPE Secondarysurface
of FRP pipe.
Containment System /Adhesive Fill
A
Apply I adhesive to inside
Stainless Steel
surface of FRP coupling
Hose Clamp
and outside surface of FRP
pipe stub just before final
assembly.
Field Installed Rubber Grommet Used With Fiberglass Double -Wall Pipe
 Turbine Enclosure Interior
Rubber Grommet
Fiberglas
Secondary Pipe
Fiberglas
Primary Pipe
Field Installed Rubber Grommet Used With HDPE Secondary
Containment System
Turbine Enclosure
Interior
Rubber Grommet
Fiberglas Pipe Stub—
Fiberglas
Primary Pipe
HDPE Secondary
Containment System
Stainless Steel Hose Clamp
G6. Electrical Steel Coupling
Installation
AAdhesiveWARNING and Catalyst are Flammable.
Also the Catalyst Contains Methyl Ethyl
Ketone Peroxide (MEKP), a Known Eye
and Skin Irritant. Observe Safe Hand-
ling Procedures. Always Wear
Impermeable Gloves and Chemical
Splash Goggles When Handling or
Mixing Adhesive. Keep Adhesive and
Catalyst Away from Sparks and Open
Flame.
Note: An optional V diameter steel coupling can be field -
installed on wall of Fiberglas Turbine Enclosure
(TE) for use with steel electrical conduit.
Continued on next page.
27
