The following table summarizes the potential risks associated with work <br /> under various Heat Index levels. <br /> Table 7-4: Heat Index Risk Level and Associated Health Effects <br /> Heat Index Associated Risk <br /> >130 Extreme Danger <br /> Heat stroke highly likely with continued exposure <br /> 105-130 Danger <br /> Heat exhaustion and heat cramps likely and heat stroke possible <br /> with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity <br /> 90-105 Extreme Caution <br /> Heat cramps and heat exhaustion possible with prolonged exposure <br /> and/or physical activity <br /> 80-90 Caution <br /> Fatigue possible with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity <br /> NOTES: <br /> • Heat Index values were devised for shady,light wind conditions. Exposure to full sun may <br /> increase these values by up to 15 degrees. <br /> • Heat Index values were devised for the general public wearing typical lightweight summer <br /> clothing.
