3049 West Highway 12
Closure Chronology
Page 3
. 1996
06/21/96 PHS/EHD received the Condor Earth Technologies' report"SESOIL Modeling Results: Fate and '
Transport within the Vadose Zone"dated May 23, 1996. The report evaluated the remaining
contamination and the potential to impact groundwater. The report indicated that there was the potential
for EDB to impact groundwater exceeding the Maximum Contaminant Level(MCL)based on a 20 year
simulation. The report also included the recommendation to pave the Pit I area to reduce water.
infiltration.
07/22/96 PHS/EHD received the Condor Earth Technologies' report"Addendum, SESOIL Modeling Results:Fate
and Transport within the Vadose Zone"dated July 2, 1996. The report evaluated the remaining
contamination using a volatilization factor of.2, without biological degradation and modeled over a
maximum time period of 100 years. Additional groundwater contamination was predicted within 12 to
45 years of toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene. The report included the recommendation to pave the Pit 1
area to'educe water infiltration and that the site be-closed.
1997
08/28/97 The paving of the Pit i area was completed.and verified by PHS/EHD.
12/18/97 PHS/EHD recommends that the site be closed and no further remedial action required based on available
information and current land use.
