PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
The report indicated that based on the location of the residual soil contamination and the
locations of the soil borings that approximately three cubic yards of contaminated soil
remain. The report failed to estimate the concentration and hence mass of this residual soil
contamination. Also, the report stated that the concrete foundation overlaying the impacted
soil would limit infiltration and decrease the potential for mobilization. Any potential
impact which the contaminated soil may pose to groundwater must be evaluated prior to
PHS/EHD's consideration of the site for closure.
The report also included the results of stockpile soil sampling. Since no contamination was
detected, PHS/EHD grants approval to spread the soil on the lawn area of the residence
located on the property.
If you have any questions, please contact Mary Meays at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
IVB
Mary Meays, Senior REHS Diane M.
