1
Site Background Information Terminous Market
' Page 2 of 2
' Immediately following the UST removal, two soil samples—one each from beneath the leaded and
unleaded gasoline USTs and designated R1 and R2,respectively—were collected at a depth of feet
below surface grade (bsg) and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline
' (TPH-g) and volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, and total xylenes The soil sample
collected from beneath the former leaded gasoline UST was also analyzed for ethylene dibromide
(EDB) and total lead Ethylbenzene and methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) were not analyzed in
' either of the soil samples collected In R1,TPH-g was detected at a concentration of 570 milligrams
per kilogram (mg/kg),toluene was detected at a concentration of 84 mg/kg, and total xylenes were
detected at a concentration of 250 mg/kg Benzene was not reported in either soil sample submitted
' for analysis
' PREVIOUS SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATIONS
On 22 March 2000, four soil borings (131 through 134) were advanced by AGE at the site to assess
' the lateral and vertical extents of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water TPH-g
was detected in the soil sample collected from probe boring B2 at 10 feet bsg (132-10) at a
concentration of 14 mg/kg No other analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits
• in the soil samples collected
TPH-g was detected in the grab ground water samples collected from B 1 and B2 at concentrations
of 120,000 micrograms per liter (µg11) and 15,000 µg/1, respectively Benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) were also detected in the ground water samples collected
from B 1 and B2 at concentrations as high as 56,000 µg/l and 600 µg/1 xylenes,respectively Table I
of this appendix summarizes the analytical results of the March 2000 soil and grab ground water
samples
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc
I
