Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has reviewed 'the "Review of Tank. Closure Data_ "
! submitted by Weston on February 20,.1990 , PHS/EHD has the
following remarks and recommendations :
A. ) Provide PHS/EHD with the proposed disposition of
stockpiled soil labelled "Original Contaminated Soil"
on plot diagram. The `lead levels exceeded the maximum
contamination, level of 13 parts per million for organic
.lead and; as such, cannot be aerated.
It was recommended in the June 27 , 1989 correspondence
from PH.S/EHD that additional verification sampling be
performed to determine °the extent and' the amount of
tetraethyl lead or soluble lead within the lead
content of stockpiled soil.. It was again suggested
on August 10 , :. 1.989 that' the California Waste Extraction
Test: or' background sample analyses be performed on the
soil samples . It shall- be assumed that the lead content
1 of the soilat this site i,s of a soluble nature unless
proven otherwise by the above mentioned analysis '.
B. ) Sample the bottom of Pit #A .to verify that the vertical
extent of contamination`'has been defined. Submit the
sample to a California certified lab for analysis . Refer
to Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for the
}: minimum verification methods and the appropriate- detection
limits to be used during the field investigation.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
s
