.Page 2
543 E. Tenth St. i
PHSIEHD agrees that monitoring wells should be installed in order to further 1
evaluate the contamination noted at this site. It is the recommendation of
PHS/EHD that three monitoring wells be installed that will properly surround the
former UST excavation area. One well should be placed up-gradient, in the
I
vicinity of SB-6. Two wells should be placed down-gradient, one between SB=S '
and SB-8, and one near SB-7. With depth to groundwater noted at
approximately 7 feet below ground surface (bsg), the wells should be screened
beginning at 5 feet bsg in order to allow them to encounter first water. The l
screen interval may extend to 15-24 feet bsg.
Free-product was noted in SB-3, which was placed in the area of the former UST 1
excavation. Feasibility studies should be conducted to evaluate possible
remediation measures. Excavation of contaminated soils has been a viable
remedial alternative in this area and should be evaluated, as well as another
remedial alternative.
Please conduct a survey and provide the location of ail agricultural, industrial,
domestic, municipal and other wells within a 2,044 foot radius of this site . . The
construction of these wells, if known, should also be provided.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Lori Duncan at (209)
468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director-
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, REHS
Margare agorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV ;
s
cc: Mark List, CVRWQCB
Joe Ramage, Ramage Environmental
i
F
i
r
i
