i
lie 2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
iThe objectives of the scope of work were to evaluate the extent of impacted groundwater,
determine groundwater flow and gradient characteristics, and establish a groundwater monitoring
capability at the site To achieve these project objectives, three groundwater monitonng wells
were installed, developed, and surveyed Groundwater from the newly-installed wells was
' monitored, sampled and analyzed All waste soil and water was properly disposed of and a water
well survey was completed at the Department of Water Resources (DWR)
21 Planning and Permitting
The planning and permitting task consisted of preparing a site-specific health and safety plan and
acquiring the required permits
2 1_1 Health and Safety Plan
' Prior to initiating fieldwork, a site-specific health and safety plan was prepared in accordance with
29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan included safety procedures, chemical hazard
• information, site safety officers, and preferred medical emergency locations A copy of the health
and safety plan is included as Appendix B
212 Permits
Since two of the monitoring wells were installed in Hamilton Ailey north of the site, an
encroachment permit was obtained from the city of Tracy In addition, a well permit was obtained
from PHSIEHD for each of the two parcels (Agricultural Commissioner's Office parcel and
Hamilton Alley parcel) At least 48 hours prior to drilling, PHSIEHD and Underground Service
Alert (USA) were notified so that regulatory and utility clearance inspections could be scheduled
Copies of the encroachment permit and well permits are included to Appendix A
'
22 Groundwater MonitoringInstallation Well
On October 29, 1998, Ramage Environmental installed three monitoring wells to monitor the
plume of impacted groundwater The locations of the three wells are shown on Figure 2
. 6
r
