SITE CODE: 1886
Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed both the Proposal for Site Cleanup Confirmation
dated May 5, 1992 and the Project Quarterly Update Report dated
May 11, 1992. The following comments will address issues which
have arisen as a result of the contents of these documents.
1. The low petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations which were
detected in nine of the groundwater samples collected
on February 24, 1992 and mentioned in the narrative
sections of both documents were not supported with
laboratory data sheets. All testing and copies of
laboratory data sheets (including method blanks) and
the corresponding "Chain of Custody" shall be included
in reports to PHS/EHD and Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) . Please provide this
missing data under addendum within 30 days of the date
that appears on this letter.
2 . During the collection of water samples, each well
should be purged until temperature, conductivity and pH
stabilize as outlined in Appendix C of the Leaking
Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) field manual. These
parameters should be recorded by the sampler and
available upon request from either PHS/EHD or CVRWQCB.
3 . The quarterly report indicates that a well-water bailer
was lost in MW 9. Efforts to remove the lost bailer or
replace this well need to be addressed prior to the
next sampling event.
4 . The Chain of Custody Record 119370, with six domestic
well samples, was not signed by the relinquishing
sampler. Please provide a signed copy under the
earlier mentioned addendum.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
