Near surface excavations, 1 to 2 feet deep, will be conducted
along the assumed route of the product and vapor lines in an
attempt to locate the lines and point of leakage.
2. Shallow soil borings, 10 to 20 feet deep will be drilled to
provide the following:
A. Area of greatest near surface contamination.
B. Lateral extent of near surface contamination.
C. Soil samples for laboratory analyses.
D. Preliminary information to determine the location
of deeper borings, to be completed as groundwater
monitoring wells.
3. The exact location of the shallow borings will be determined
in the field based on information obtained from previous
borings. The following locations will likely be included in
the drilling of these shallow borings:
A. Adjacent to and intersecting the trench backfill of
the product lines between the pump island and the
tank pit.
B. Adjacent to and intersecting the tank pit backfill
at the west end of the unleaded tank (northern tank
within pit ) .
