Air-stripper influent and effluent water samples
were collected twice during this period for analysis by U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency ;EPA) Modified Method
5030/8020/8015.
The following are Mass Balance Calculations for the highest-
documented emission of benzene. This emission was recorded on
December 15, 1988 and January 5, 1989. Copies of the original
laboratory analyses results are attached.
During this month of operation, the soil ventilation system was
not in use. On November 30, 1988, breakthrough of the pre-filter
carbon was detected, and the system was shut down due to a lack
of replacement canisters at the site. The accumulation of 12
spent canisters at the site forced a delay in obtaining fresh
canisters, due to a lack of storage space.
