The proposed
work involves expansion of the existing soil-vent system by
addition of new vapor points (i.e. , existing monitoring wells)
and installation of an ORS Environmental Equipment Catalytic
Scavenger Incineration System (System) for effective hydrocarbon-
vapor treatment.
BACKGROUND
In April, 1986, Groundwater Technology, Inc. (GTI) was
retained by Southland Corporation (Southland) to provide environ-
mental consulting services for the above-mentioned location. The
consulting work involved investigation of a suspected unleaded
gasoline release, which could have been caused by a ruptured
product line. On confirming the suspected gasoline release,
monitoring wells were installed and the groundwater was monitored
regularly to assess the lateral and vertical-extent of hydrocar-
bon-impacted soil and groundwater. These preliminary investiga-
tions identified gasoline adsorbed within the vadose zone soils,
dissolved within the groundwater, concentrated as free-phase
product and volatilized as vapors.
()ft""ii is thnraghout the US,Canada and(111"eds
