PROJECT QUARTERLY UPDATE REPORT
7-^ELEVEN STORE
9110 THORNTON ROAD
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
FEBRUARY 2, 1989
INTRODUCTION
This report presents a quarterly update of the services
conducted by Groundwater Technology, Inc. (Groundwater
Technology) at 7-Eleven Store No. 20680, located at 9110 Thornton
Road in Stockton, California (Figure 1) . As shown on the Site
- Plan (Figure 2) , the store is situated on the northern corner of
Thornton Road and Waudman Avenue in a mixed commercial and
residential area. This report summarizes work performed between
October 5, 1989 and December 29, 1989.
BACKGROUND
In April. 1986, Groundwater Technology was retained by
Southland Corporation to conduct a subsurface investigation of a
suspected unleaded-gasoline release at the above-mentioned
- location. The unleaded fuel-delivery system failure was detected
during a precision tank-system test conducted March 28, 1986.
The unleaded underground-storage tank and distribution system was
r then shut down April 2, 1986. On May 5, 1986, excavations at the
site to expose fuel and vapor lines indicated that the source of
T the loss was a fuel line located beneath the concrete slab
adjacent to the pump islands.
In order to assess the lateral and vertical-extent of
contamination, four groundwater-monitoring wells (MW) MW-1, MW-2,
and MW-4 were installed on May 6 and 7, 1986.
