Quarterly Project Update Report January 29, 1993
Southland Store No 20680, 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, CA 3
I2.2 Groundwater Sampling and Analyses
IMonitoring wells MWA, MWA 3, MW-15ABC, MW-16, MWA7ABC, MWA8 through MW-20, former
pumping well PW-3, and former recovery well RW-1 were sampled on December 23, 1992 The
status of monitoring wells not sampled on December 23, 1992, is summarized to Table 2
Samples were collected according to Groundwater Technology's SOPS, copies of which are
included In Appendix A Groundwater sampling was conducted by first purging water from each
well using a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bailer Each well was purged by hand bailing, removing at
Ileast 4 well volumes of water, or purged until dry The groundwater was then allowed to recover to
at least 80 percent of the original static water level before sampling The groundwater samples were
Icollected using an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved Teflon® sampler All samples
were collected in laboratory-supplied containers, preserved, labeled, and stored on ice Samples
I were transported according to chain-of-custody protocol to a California-certified laboratory, GTEL
Environmental Laboratories, Inc (GTEL) in Concord, Calrfomia Each sample was analyzed for
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons-as-gasoline
(TPH-G) using modified EPA Methods 5030/8020/8015
IAnalyses of the samples collected on December 23, 1992, from groundwater monitoring wells
MW-13, MWA 5ABC, MWA 6, MWA 7ABC, MW-18 through MW-20, former pumping well PW-3 and
Iformer recovery well RWA reported that benzene and TPH-G concentrations were below MDLs in all
samples The analytical results of the groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1 on
I December 23, 1992, reported a TPH-G concentration of 33 ppb and a toluene concentrations of 33
ppb Analytical results of the groundwater sample collected from well MW-15A reported toluene
I concentrations at 0 3 ppb and xylene concentrations at 0 7 ppb Analytical results of the
groundwater sample collected from well MW-15C reported toluene concentrations at 0 5 ppb and
xylene concentrations at 2 ppb Benzene was not detected above the MDL in the groundwater
sample collected from monitoring well MWA
Water samples were collected from domestic wells 8968, 9036, 1912, 9140, 9156, and 9172 on
October 29, November 30, and December 23, 1992 The addresses and owners of routinely
sampled domestic wells are summarized in Table 4 Analytical results of groundwater samples
. collected from the domestic wells reported no BTEX concentrations A TPH-G concentration of 14
IR1211A2 RH
_J L GROUNDWATER
IF-1 iTECHNOWGY, INC
I
