. Second Quarter 1993 Monitoring and Sampling Report July 30, 1993
Southland Site No 20680, 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, CA 4
analytical result for the groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1, which reported
concentration of STEX (1 0 parts per billion [ppb], i 10 ppb, 10 ppb, and 3 0 ppb, respectively) and
TPH-G (250 ppb) These results for well MW-1 are higher than the concentrations previously
detected and may be the result of surface Infiltration from the parking lot area The well is located at
a topographically low area of the parking lot. Copies of the analytical laboratory reports are
Included in Attachment 4 The historical TPH-G laboratory results for groundwater samples collected
from the monitoring and pumping wells are presented in Attachment 5 The historical TPH-G
laboratory results for groundwater samples collected from the domestic wells are presented in
Attachment 6
Groundwater samples were collected from domestic wells 8958 (Kingdom Hall), 9036, 1912, 9140,
9156, and 9172 (Ivy Motel) on April 30, May 28, and June 30, 1993 Analytical results of
groundwater samples collected from the domestic wells did not report TPH-G or BTEX
concentrations above MDLs The analytical results of groundwater samples collected during this
quarter are summarized In Tables 3 and 5 The addresses and owners of routinely sampled
domestic wells are listed in Table 4 Copies of the analytical laboratory reports are included In
Attachment 4 The historical TPH-G laboratory results for groundwater samples collected from the
monitoring and pumping wells are presented in Attachment 5 The historical TPH-G laboratory
. results for groundwater samples collected from the domestic wells are presented in Attachment 6
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Groundwater monitoring data recorded on June 30, 1993, indicates that groundwater levels have
Increased approximately 1 5 feet in the monitoring wells at the site The apparent groundwater flow
direction beneath the site Is generally to the east
With one exception, laboratory results of the samples collected on June 30, 1993, from monitoring
wells MW-1, MW-5, MW-7, MW-8, MW-9, MW-13, MW-15A through MW-15C, MW-16, MW-17A
through MW-17C, MW-18 through MW-20, former pumping wells PW-1 through PW-3, and former
recovery well RW-1 reported BTEX and TPH-G concentrations below MDLs in each sample tested
The one exception is the analytical results of the groundwater samples collected from monitoring
well MW-1 which reported detectable concentrations of BTEX and TPH-G Laboratory results of
groundwater samples collected from domestic wells 8968, 9036, 1912, 9140, 9156, and 9172 on April
30, May 28, and June 30, 1993, reported BTEX and TPH-G concentrations below MDLs for all
samples analyzed
Based on the results of assessment and remediation activities conducted at the site to date and on
the results of the sod confirmation boring program conducted at the site in January and February
1993, Groundwater Technology requested site closure, submitting a Closure Report, dated May 21,
