Exploratory trenching
on site has defined the limits of hydrocarbon-impacted soil in the unsaturated zone (Wallace and Kuhl,
August 1994), Groundwater Technology will supervise the excavation of hydrocarbon-impacted soil
located within the limits defined by the previous investigation (Figure 2).
Additional soil and groundwater assessment has been conducted outside of the previously identified
impacted zone to determine the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and
groundwater related to the former UST cavity and dispenser island. Analytical results of soil and
groundwater samples collected in February 1995 detected the presence of heavier hydrocarbons than
'the normal hydrocarbon range of gasoline in eight of the ten sampling locations. Based on the results
of.previous investigations and the results of the February 1995 assessment, Groundwater Technology
recommended the installation of three additional groundwater monitoring wells to define the limits of
dissolved hydrocarbons in groundwater. This work plan summarizes the tasks required to complete
this objective.
0053asa.wkp
offices throughout the U.S.,Canada and Overseas
f
