4 _
I
i
Work Plan for Additional Assessment 3
Barbara Drake,26495 North Thornton Rd.,Thornton,CA Juty 26,1995
TASK 3: GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL INSTALLATIONIDEVELOPM ENT
Groundwater monitoring wells will be constructed of 2-inch-diameter blank polyvinylchloride (PVC)
casing and 0.020-inch-slot PVC well screen. The well screen will be installed from approximately five
feet BGS to the bottom of the boring at 20 feet BGS. A sand filter pack will be placed within the
annulus of the well from the bottom of the boring to approximately 1 foot above the top of the well
screen. The annulus will be sealed with approximately 2 feet of bentonite on top of the sand, and a
ortland cement/bentonite rout to the surface. Well constructions specifications will be adjusted
P 9 P 1
according to field conditions, if required. The well head will be protected by a locking cap and a
traffic-rated,watertight street box set in concrete.
Prior to groundwater monitoring and sampling, the monitoring well will be developed by surging and
bailing to remove fines from the well and sand pack. The well will be developed until well water is
visibly clear. Development water will be stored in DOT-approved 55-gallon drums on site.
al position of,each well will be professionally surveyed relative to
Tip•f casing (TQC) and hriznt N y y
mean sea level using the established bench mark for the wells on site. ;
TASK 5: REPORT PREPARATION
I
Groundwater Technology will prepare a report summarizing the data collected under the scope of work
detailed above. The report will document the methods and results of the work and include all
appropriate maps and laboratory analytical documentation..
PROJECT SCHEDULE
I
Groundwater Technology is prepared to begin work on this project within two weeks of work plan
approval by the SJCPHS-EHD: Discussions have already been initiated with the County and British
Petroleum regarding well installation. The report will be submitted approximately four weeks after the
receipt of all laboratory analytical results.
0053ass.wkp
❑❑GROUNDWATER
❑❑❑TECHNOLOGY®
s
