Pandash
What are the drawbacks of using Pandash and CSI?
• Assuming a product is not a regulated waste under RCRA or state regulations
simply because it does not flag as hazmat in Pandash or CSI. This is not correct!
• Consumer quantity hazmat products (ORM-D) are not regulated by DOT and
therefore do not show up as hazmat in Pandash or CSI, but these MAY STILL BE
HAZARDOUS.
• Other products that are regulated by RCRA or state requirements, but not by the
DOT are:
— Electronics (if they have lithium batteries included they will show up in Pandash/CSI)
— Health and Beauty Aids (HBA — shampoos, conditioners, cosmetics, etc)
— Compact fluorescent lights (CFL)
— Non-hazardous liquids
• The DOT hazard class does not directly match with RCRA hazardous waste
categories.
• The material Safety Data Sheet (SDS) must still be used to identify waste
characteristics and/or listed constituents to determine if the wastes are hazardous
under RCRA or state regulations.
® 9/23/2019 Amazon Confidential 47 EHS
