,'Spill Response
• Hazmat sites must designate personnel to take HAZWOPER training with an outside
vendor to handle potential large and uncontrolled spills
• Small, contained spills shall be cleaned up by hazardous waste trained personnel only
— Obtain the MSDS of the product
— Verify the PPE needed to provide employee safety when cleaning up a small, contained spill
— Read the emergency response section for additional information
— The majority of our spills can be cleaned up by applying absorbent such as "Floor dri" or "Kitty litter" to
absorb the liquid. This should be transferred to a spill bag, provided by PSC, then transferred to a hazardous
waste container.
— The container must be labeled and stored per the requirements outlined earlier in the presentation
— A PMV shall be created to cover this task
• If a spill is large or uncontained the site shall contact the waste vendor for professional
clean-up
— While waiting for 3rd party, block access to area of spill
— Evacuate the area adjacent to the spill if required (due to odor, health concerns, etc.)
— Escalate to RSM as soon as possible to ensure any reporting requirements are completed
• All sites must have a spill kit available in the hazardous waste storage area
— Spill kits available from PSC. Additional supplies can be requested as needed.
• Spill response is also outlined in the Emergency Action Plan
EHS
3/9/2020 Amazon Confidential 21
