,'Spill Response <br /> • Hazmat sites must designate personnel to take HAZWOPER training with an outside <br /> vendor to handle potential large and uncontrolled spills <br /> • Small, contained spills shall be cleaned up by hazardous waste trained personnel only <br /> — Obtain the MSDS of the product <br /> — Verify the PPE needed to provide employee safety when cleaning up a small, contained spill <br /> — Read the emergency response section for additional information <br /> — The majority of our spills can be cleaned up by applying absorbent such as "Floor dri" or "Kitty litter" to <br /> absorb the liquid. This should be transferred to a spill bag, provided by PSC, then transferred to a hazardous <br /> waste container. <br /> — The container must be labeled and stored per the requirements outlined earlier in the presentation <br /> — A PMV shall be created to cover this task <br /> • If a spill is large or uncontained the site shall contact the waste vendor for professional <br /> clean-up <br /> — While waiting for 3rd party, block access to area of spill <br /> — Evacuate the area adjacent to the spill if required (due to odor, health concerns, etc.) <br /> — Escalate to RSM as soon as possible to ensure any reporting requirements are completed <br /> • All sites must have a spill kit available in the hazardous waste storage area <br /> — Spill kits available from PSC.
