(AGE) and has the following comments.
In May 2003, remediation b-removal of 1300 tons of contaminated soil was performed at:this:
site. Currently; the only groundwater contamina#ion remaining at the site;appears limited to the
shallow groundwater in the area of monitoring well MW-1 B.
In Feasibility Study R0pott dated February 7,2008 AGE compared tw.o alternatives taremediate
the remaining groundwater caintarrtiinatian, ozone injection and groundwater extraetian. They
concludeel that;ozone irtiiection would bee more cost effective alternative. AGE+estimated that
the cost to implement ozone inject on would be up to $120;000.00, The EHID recommends that
the feasibility and cost effectiveness of groundwater remediation by either air ;sparging or
oxygen injection be evaluated. These alternatives would not require bene) scale testing..
Additionally, since directing: the bench.scale test for ozone injection at.this site, the EHI Etas
become aware of another option. Given that groundwater remediation by .ozoneIr jecticir! is:
=currently being performed at`:an adjacent site (2353 Toste Road, Tracy Marine Sales)and It.Was
stated in the f=easibility Stuoy Report that the stratigraphy of the two sites is similar; data from
groundwater sampling;at tha site may be used instead of performing an ozone.,h Ch scale:test.
for:this site. Groundwater isamples can be collected from monitoring wells up-gradient of the
ozone system, in the ozrne system area and down-gradient of the ozone: system and analyzed
for dissolved metals. if the data from this sampling demonstrates that ozone iniection 41d. not
cause groundwater degradation at 235`3 Toste Road, it can be used to justify that ozone
injection:-hould riot cause groundwater degradation at this site.
The Feasibility Sfudy Reporar:states that: the ozone system at 2353 Toste Road has .operated
discontinuously. The. EHD is aware there have been problems with the operation ofozone.
systems which is another reason to evaluate the alternatives of airs parg ng or oxygen injection..
