(AGE)
and has the following;comments.
In the letter AGE proposes several changes to the groundwater monitoring and sampling
routine for your site. The EHD approves the following changes, effective based on when the
last event took place:
1. Wells MW-113 and MW-4 will be sampled on;a semi-annual schedule Analysis must
include total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and as diesel (TPHd) by
EPA Method 8015M; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total.xylenes, methyl tertiary
butyl ether, tertiary butyl ;alcohol, di-isopropyl ether, ethyl tertiary butyl ether, tertiary
amyl methyl ether and 1,24chloroethane (1,2-DCA) by EPA Method 8260-8
2. All tither site monitoring, wells will be sampled on a biennial schedule,.or prior to any
submittal of a,request for closure, for the above listed analytes,
The EHD has discussed with: you and with ACE using data from the contaminated
.underground storage tank (UST) site at 2353 Toste road, known as Tracy Marine, to
evaluate the possibility of;using ozone infusion as a final remedial alternative at the Curtiss
Pontiac-Cadillac site. In correspondence dated January 8, 2009 the; EHD recommended
collection of groundwater samples at Tracy Marine from wellslocated up-gradient of the
treatment area, in the treatment area and down-gradient of the treatment area and having
them analyzed.for dissolved metals. If it can be shown that the ozone infusion system at
Tracy Marine has not resulted in groundwater degradation, and that the two sites are similar
in geology and geochemistry, it may be possible to use ozone infusion at the Curtiss Pontiac:
Cadillac site without first performing a costly bench scale test. Groundwater samples from
Tracy Marine should be analyzed for hexavalent chromium by EPA Method 6020 (ICP-MS)
or 7199 (ion chromatography), bromate by EPA Method 317, 390.1 or 32.1.8 modified, and
bromide by EPA Method 300.1 or 321.8 modified.
Please note that the Califomia Code of Regulations, Title 23, Section 2652 (copy enclosed.)..
requires owners of tdritaminated underground storage tank sites to report quarterly on the
status of their sitei to the lead regulatory agency overseeing the investigation.
