L
Site Background Information: Former Curtiss Pontiac-Buick
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0254
On 12 and 13 February 1998five ground water monitoring wells were installed on-site and
off-site of thesubject property. Soil borings B10 and B14 were completed as dual-screened
ground water monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-1, respectively. Soil borings 1311, B12, and
B13 were completed as conventional ground water monitoring wells MW-3, MW-6 and
MW-5, respectively.
• TPH-g w as detected i n s amples collected fr om w ell M W-1A and MW-1 B at
concentrations of 220 and 2,OOOpg/l, respectively. TPH-d was detected samples
collected from well MW-1B at a concentration 160 pg/I. Benzene was detected in
samples collected from wells MW-1A and MW-1 B at concentrations of 15 pg/I and
530 pg/l, respectively. Toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes were also detected in
MW-1A and MW-1 B at concentration as high as 260 pg/I (toluene, MW-1 B). MTBE
was detected in the sample collected from well MW-1 B at a concentration 9.9 pg/I.
On 04 November 1999, six soil probe borings (PB1 through PB6) were advanced at the
site under EHD oversight. Probe borings were advanced in the area of the former USTs,
dispenser and northwest to the property line; a total of 11 soil samples were submitted for
analysis. In addition, grab ground water samples were collected from borings PB-1, PB-4
and PB-5 and were submitted for analysis.
• Only so it samples fr om PB- 4 c ontained det ectable c oncentrations of BTEX
compounds ran ging from 0.006 mg/kg to 0.09 9 mg/kg. N o othe r analytes w ere
detected above laboratory reporting limits.
• TPH-g, TPH A and BTEX co mpounds were detected i n al l three ground water
samples at concentrations as high as 100,000 pg/I, 36,000 pg/I and 11,000 pg/I,
respectively.
On 18 and 19 November 1999, two ground water monitoring wells (MW-4 and MW-7) were
installed on-site. A total of 4 soil samples were submitted for analysis.
• TPH-g, TPH-d and BTEX compounds were detected in only the 5-foot soil sample
collected from MW-4 at concentrations of 940 mg/kg, 270 mg/kg, 9.6 mg/kg, 9.8
mg/kg, 20 mg/kg and 48 mg/kg, respectively.
On 13 March 2001, two soil borings (CPT-1 and CPT-2) were advanced on-site utilizing
CPT technology tomodel the geological and hydrogeological framework and to assess the
vertical extent of dissolved petroleum-hydrocarbons beneath the site. A totdof four "grab"
ground water samples were collected from CPT-1 and CPT-2 and submitted for laboratory
analysis.
Advanced GeoEnvironmen[al,Inc.
