4
KLEINFELDER
J a
1 INTRODUCTION
1
' The followingis a work plan to conduct a soil investigation at Tracy Community Memorial
P g cy tY
Hospital. This site is located south of Beverly Place and north of.Eaton Avenue between
Tracy Boulevard and(Bessie Avenue m Tracy,_California, (refer to Plate 1).
i It is Kleinfelder's understanding that two underground diesel storage tanks were removed
September 19, 1988, from the site. Two soil samples were collected by California Water
Labs of Modesto, California, and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH);
` benzene toluene and leve BTX using EPA Method 8015 and EPA Method 8020
, xylene (BTX) g ,
respectively. The sample locations are shown on Plate 2.
The laboratory report indicates the 4eastern'-samplE y(P-69749)"was nondetect_for all
analytics. The` wTe` sem fIl(P-69750_)-had a'TPH -value-of-4,400- mg/kg--but- wasi
nondetect for BTX. A copy of laboratory data sheets and chain-of-custody-aie pfdVided
within Appendix A. Between September 19 and October 29, 1988, the excavation was
backfilled with the removed soil to minimize the potential hazard of an open excavation.
The purpose of conductingthis proposed work is to assess the presence of hydrocarbon
P P
chemicals within near-surface soils in the vicinity of the removed underground tanks on a
fast track basis to minimize scheduling conflicts with the ongoing hospital construction
activities.
1
I'
146-88-2051 1
