r 3 • KLEINFELDEIi
,y After the wells are developed, the aquifer is allowed to equilibrate for 24 to 48 hours.
Each well is first sampled with a clear acrylic bailer to visually inspect for hydrocarbon
layer or sheen. The wells can then be purged and sampled if no product layer or sheen is
observed on the water. During the purging of the wells, field parameters (pH, conductivity,
and temperature) are monitored. Samples are collected after the field parameters have
stabilized (normally requiring the removal of five well volumes). Water sampling
containers are supplied by and prepared by the laboratory. These sample containers are
'-' immediately sealed after sample collection and placed in an iced cooler. At the end of the
day, the water samples are delivered under chain-of-custody to an analytical laboratory
certified by the state for the specified chemical analysis.
4. To prevent cross-contamination between wells, all developing and sampling equipment is
thoroughly washed in a detergent solution and rinsed in distilled water or steam cleaned
prior to use in the next monitoring well.
SOIL CUTTINGS AND WATER DISPOSAL
Drill cuttings, development water, and purge water are placed in 55-gallon drums and left
r. onsite for disposal by the owner. Kleinfelder can assist in coordinating the disposal of soil
and water with contractors after chemical analysis results are available.
V
WELL ELEVATION AND LOCATION SURVEY
The relative ground surface elevations will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor for each
monitoring well to the nearest 0.10 foot. In addition, the top of the PVC casings will be
surveyed to the nearest 0.01 foot. The location for each monitoring well will be surveyed to
the nearest 0.10 foot and referenced to site facilities. The elevations will be tied into an
-' assumed elevation or a nearby USGS bench mark. Depth to static ground water will be
• measured from the top of each PVC casing. The depth to water will then be subtracted
from the elevation of the top of the well casing to provide a relative potentiometric surface
elevation for each monitoring well location.
LO
`'' 163-89-161
