%wool KLEINFELDER
v
55-gallon drums which were left onsite for future discharge or disposal by the client,
L. depending on laboratory results.
After the wells were developed, the aquifer was allowed to equilibrate three days prior to
sampling. On March 23, 1989, the water level in each monitoring well was measured from
the top of the PVC casing. MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 were then purged and sampled with a
clean bailer. While purging the wells, field parameters (pH, conductivity, and temperature)
were monitored. After purging three to five well volumes, a water sample was collected
`& with a decontaminated Teflon bailer. The samples were placed in laboratory bottles and
immediately sealed, labeled, and placed in an iced cooler for temporary storage. At the
0.0 end of the day, the water samples were delivered under chain-of-custody to
Ense co/California Analytical Laboratories, Inc.
La
All development and sampling equipment was steam cleaned and washed in a trisodium
phosphate solution prior to use in each well. Monitoring Well Purge Characterization
sheets for the wells are included in Appendix B.
` 3.5 WATER SAMPLE ANALYSES AND RESULTS
All water samples collected on March 23, 1989, were submitted to Ense co/California
Analytical Laboratories, Inc. in West Sacramento, California for total petroleum
.. hydrocarbons extractable by GC-FID, and aromatic volatile organics (benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes) by EPA Method 602. In addition to these standard
analyses, the SJLHD requested that the water be tested for coliform due to the proximity
of a sewer line. A chain-of-custody form and laboratory data sheets are included in
Appendix B. Analytical results for the water samples are summarized in Table 1.
3.6 MONITORING WELL ELEVATION SURVEY
The relative elevations of the top of the 2-inch PVC casings were surveyed by Associated
Land Consultants. The casing elevations for the wells are tied into a USGS mean sea level
elevation benchmark (40.39 feet) located on the northeast corner of West Beverly Place
r,, and Madison Avenue, Tracy. In wells MW-1 and MW-3, the top of casing was set above
grade approximately 6 inches to allow for access upon completion of the proposed
construction. The top of casing for monitoring well MW-2 was installed approximately 4
inches below grade due to its location in a parking area.
175-89-543 6
LN
